Child Care ResourcesAdams County Combined Courts Child Care Vouchers Any party, juror, witness or victim that is responsible for the care of a child under twelve (12) years of age is eligible for voucher assistance to pay for child care. To participate in the program the party must make arrangements in advance with an approved day care provider. When the participant leaves his or her child or children at the day care provider, he or she will be provided with a voucher form. The voucher will pay for day care for the time that the participant is at court, and no other day care expense will be paid. The provider will forward the completed voucher to the court and payment will be made directly by the District Administrator to the day care provider. Return to Top↑ Cultural Resource HandbookThe Seventeenth Judicial District Minority Overrepresentation Committee has developed a comprehensive handbook of service providers who provide services such as mental health counseling, domestic violence victims' services, substance abuse treatment services, mental health treatment and other such services, including culturally appropriate services. Developed with a grant from the Colorado Court Appointed Special Advocates program, the handbook seeks to reduce minority overrepresentation and recidivism in the judicial system by identifying and developing services which address the needs of the overrepresented communities. Return to Top↑ Office of Dispute Resolution On-Site MediationThe Seventeenth Judicial District, in conjunction with the Office of Dispute Resolution, is now offering mediation services for litigants in dissolution of marriage actions at the Adams County Justice Center, 1100 Judicial Center Drive, Brighton, Colorado. To schedule such mediation sessions, contact the Office of Dispute Resolution at (303) 837-3672. On-site mediation services will only be scheduled to take place on Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.. The charges are $40.00 per party per hour when both parties are present. There is a one hour minimum charge for all mediation sessions. If only one party attends the session, the charge to that party will be $80.00 per hour. An administrative fee of $40.00 per party may be assessed, at the discretion of the Office of Dispute Resolution, for complicated cases. For persons who are determined to be indigent, the Office of Dispute Resolution offers free mediation services. The program is a comprehensive class to assist a parent in becoming a more successful and positive parent. The program is designed for parents who wish to become more effective in their parenting, are in a divorce or custody situation, find themselves in a crisis situation and in need of support, or are court ordered to attend parenting classes. Return to Top↑ Shared Parenting Support Program©The Shared Parenting Support Program© was developed by Frank Leek, Ph.D., a clinical and forensic psychologist from California through his work mediating parenting plans, conducting parenting evaluations, and helping families to make the transition from dissolution of marriage to effective co-parenting after the court proceedings had been concluded. Only trained and licensed mental health professionals who have completed an authorized SPSP© workshop and have completed appropriate application can claim to be certified as SPSP © therapists. The program consists of ten to twelve one hour sessions. In order to participate in the program a temporary or permanent custody or parenting time order must be in place. The program emphasizes developing communication tools and skills between parents to make existing parenting plans work, not to change the plan. Return to Top↑ Seventeenth Judicial District Parenting Education ProgramsThe Children Cope With Change Seminar The "Children Cope With Change" seminar must be attended by any and all parties involved in dissolution of marriage or legal separation actions involving children or parties to allocation of parental responsibilities or child custody cases. The seminar provides four hours of education, parent handouts, and a Certificate of Completion fulfilling the court requirements. Cost of the seminar is $50.00 per participant. Pre-registration with payment is required. There is a $10.00 re-schedule or cancellation fee. If a parent attends without pre-registering, the fee for attending the seminar is $55.00.
